E. W. Kaufmann Co. began operations in 1956 as a manufacturer's representative. Over time the founder, Emerson (Stretch) Kaufmann, added salesmen and became a distributor. The company now acts as sales agent and distributor to its manufacturers. The Company was sold to members of its sales staff in 1977. They formed DNT Corporation, d/b/a E. W. Kaufmann Company. To this day DNT remains employee owned.
New management quickly expanded the targeted geographic region from its base in Maryland and Pennsylvania to its current range along the Northeastern United States. E.W. Kaufmann Company continues to expand both its product base and sales staff.
